<p>installation and care are not gestures. they are acts of attention. every surface, every seam, every exposure to light demands a quiet precision. this guide is not a manifesto. it is a set of instructions, written in the language of the material itself.</p>
<h2>substrate preparation</h2>
<p>the wall must be flat, dry, and free from any residue. remove dust, grease, or old adhesive with a mild solvent. sand if necessary, then wipe with a damp cloth. allow to dry completely. a clean surface is not a requirement. it is a condition.</p>
<ul>
<li>use a primer if the wall is porous or absorbent. avoid excessive thickness.</li>
<li>inspect for cracks or unevenness. repair before application.</li>
<li>do not apply over wallpaper, paint, or other finishes that may lift or curl.</li>
</ul>
<h2>paste type</h2>
<p>use only a paste specifically formulated for natural fibers. avoid starch-based or water-soluble pastes, which may weaken the material over time. apply paste in thin, even layers. excess paste will not adhere better. it will only obscure the surface.</p>

<li>do not mix pastes. each is calibrated for a specific weight and weave.</li>
<li>apply paste to the wall, not the paper. this ensures even contact and minimizes warping.</li>
<li>work in small sections, no larger than 1.5 meters. this allows for controlled placement and adjustment.</li>

<h2>seam handling</h2>
<p>seams are not flaws. they are the material’s way of acknowledging its own limits. align seams carefully, using a taut seam guide. press seams firmly with a smoothing tool, working from the center outward. do not stretch. do not force. the material will settle on its own.</p>

<li>overlap seams by at least 2 cm. trim excess with a sharp blade after pressing.</li>
<li>use a seam roller to ensure full adhesion. avoid heat or pressure that may distort the material.</li>
<li>inspect seams after 24 hours. adjust if necessary, but only with care.</li>
</ul>
<h2>cleaning</h2>
<p>clean with a soft cloth and water. avoid direct contact with steam, solvents, or abrasive agents. for stubborn stains, use a mild, neutral pH cleaner. blot, do not rub. water will not damage the material. negligence will.</p>

<li>do not use excessive water. saturation may weaken the adhesive or cause warping.</li>
<li>avoid cleaning products containing bleach, alcohol, or acidic compounds.</li>
<li>dry immediately with a clean, dry cloth. moisture is not a temporary condition.</li>

<p>light is not a threat. it is a variable. prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause fading or discoloration. position the material away from windows, or use UV-filtering glass if unavoidable. indirect light is not a compromise. it is a choice.</p>

<li>do not expose to heat sources, radiators, or direct flame.</li>
<li>rotate or reposition if necessary, but do not expect the material to remain unchanged.</li>

<h2>expected lifespan</h2>
<p>reclaimed materials are not new. they are repurposed. their lifespan depends on the conditions of their first life, and the care given in this one. expect a minimum of 10 years with proper installation and maintenance. some may last longer. others may not. this is not a failure. it is a reality.</p>

<li>inspect periodically for signs of wear, lifting, or fading.</li>
<li>reapply adhesive if necessary, using the same paste type and method.</li>
<li>do not attempt to repair with incompatible materials or techniques.</li>
