## 🔪 CONTRARIAN PANEL — corrected recovery preparation, TK-10928

**Verdict: SHIP IT — preparation only. Recovery remains blocked.** The actual corrected proposal passes independently reproduced installed-shell checks. The earlier FIX FIRST was earned; the fix now earns acceptance.

**The 5 critics:**
- 🔧 Engineer — Nonempty `snapshot_paths=(.)` fixes the reproduced Bash 3.2 nounset failure. Four final-hash root/nested, present/absent fixtures preserve exact paths and the real index. Vote: SHIP IT.
- 🎨 Designer — The owner evidence now exposes interpreter, version, options, original failure, and full-writer omission. Its claims are legible and bounded. Vote: SHIP IT.
- 👤 User — Root snapshots exclude exactly the five named renders; ordinary nested snapshots and other renders survive. No source deployment was performed. Vote: SHIP IT.
- 🕵️ Skeptic — The 240-second integrity timeout leaves restore and storage reduction unproven. Do not let a patch review masquerade as recovery approval. Vote: FIX FIRST on the broader recovery package.
- ♟️ Strategist — Keep the verified tiny patch and finish the retained rehearsal. A rebuild would waste the useful capture and repaired scope. Vote: SHIP IT.

**Debate round:** Engineer holds that the actual correction closes the only reproduced code blocker. Designer concedes the original PASS presentation was misleading and accepts its explicit shell-contract correction. User accepts the four exact-path cases as sufficient patch-boundary proof. Skeptic concedes capture is real and the patch is fixed, but retains dissent against accepting the broader recovery package. Strategist sharpens the scope: accept this preparation increment while preserving the unresolved operational gate. No critic claims runtime recovery.

**The 3 holes reviewed, ranked:**
1. **Closed — code defect:** Initial empty-array expansion exited 127 on both nested cases. Corrected actual patch uses a nonempty positive pathspec array; four independent final-hash fixtures PASS on `/bin/bash 3.2.57`, `set -uo pipefail`.
2. **Closed — evidence defect:** Initial owner fixture omitted the actual shell contract. Updated `ops-staging-fixture-proof.json` records Bash version/options, reproduces the old failure, and verifies the corrected snippet. Independent evidence agrees.
3. **Open — recovery boundary:** Full fsck timed out after 240 seconds. Complete restore, self-contained target storage measurement, and real scheduler recovery have not been demonstrated. This is an explicit blocker on recovery, not a newly invented patch defect.

**The lazy shortcut you hoped we would not notice:** `"actual_proposal_snippet_executed": true` originally concealed a different shell/options contract. That shortcut is now corrected.

**Sameness:** The five literal exclusions implement one intentionally bounded policy. No fake design diversity applies.

**Where the critics DISAGREED:** Skeptic would hold the entire recovery package for proof. The other four accept only the corrected preparation artifact; all agree source maintenance and recovery completion remain blocked.

**Vote tally:** 4 × SHIP IT, 1 × FIX FIRST → **VERDICT: SHIP IT, preparation only**. No genuine remaining patch blocker overrides the majority.

**The bar:** Final actual proposal hash verified; installed-shell root/nested and candidate-present/absent cases preserve exact expected files and real index; capture identity checks PASS. Separate integrity, restore, target-size and scheduler evidence are still required for operational completion.

**Do this now:** Complete the retained original-copy integrity check and record its real result before proceeding to restoration or storage reconstruction.

**One sentence:** The shell fix clears the bar; calling this a recovered backup system still would not.
